In Loving Memory Of

Yvonne Nordstrom

1937 - 2025

The family of Yvonne Nordstrom sadly announces her passing on December 21, 2025, at the age of 88.

Born in Saint John, NB, Yvonne was the youngest daughter of the late Gilbert and Philomene (Goguen)Casey, and the devoted wife of the late Bernard “Sonny” Nordstrom.

Yvonne and Sonny moved their family to St. Stephen in 1969 and she became a beloved teacher at St. Stephen Elementary School. She touched countless young lives through her love of learning and strength, leaving a legacy that will be remembered by colleagues, students, and their families.

Yvonne loved to cook and bake, providing meals for anyone who happened by and treating everyone to her amazing baked sweets. She and Sonny made and donated many homemade crafts to support community fundraising efforts. Every season they would decorate their yard with homemade crafts, hoping that both young and old would smile just a little bit brighter when driving by.

Family was at the heart of Yvonne’s life.

She is lovingly survived by her children Charlotte (Tex) Giddens, Gregory (Jackie), Gwen (Bill) Borthwick, Allison (Anne), Kenneth, and Andrew (Troy). She will be dearly missed by her grandchildren Ryan (Meaghan), Andrew (Krissi), and Scott (Amy); Greg Jackson, Hailey, Lindsey; Cameron (Danielle), Cara, Bethany (Alan), Chrissy (Dave); Colton and Sydney (Chris), several great‑grandchildren, all of whom brought her immense pride and joy. Yvonne is also survived by many loved nieces and nephews’.

In addition to her parents and husband, Yvonne was predeceased by her siblings Irene (Eileen) Richards, Edith LeBlanc, Eva Stevens, Edmee (Fifi) Brideau, Mary (Nunny) LeBlanc, Teresa Earl and Norman Casey, brothers in law James (Bamie) and Gerald (Syl) Nordstrom, sisters in law Edwina (Winnie) Hughes and Barb MacNeil.

Though her passing leaves a deep void in our hearts, those who knew and loved her will remember her warmth, generosity, and steady presence.  Yvonne’s family will be celebrating her life at a Catholic Mass at a future date.

The family wishes to thank Dr. Pinder, Dr. Lalik, the amazing Charlotte County Hospital nurses and staff, Home Support, Extra Mural nurses, Fundy Nursing Home and Passamaquoddy Lodge for the excellent care given Mom over the past year.  Their kindness and support will always be cherished.
