In Loving Memory Of

William “Will” Cloney

1953 - 2026

It is with great sadness that the family of William “Will” Cloney, 72, of St. Stephen, announce his unexpected passing on February 26, 2026.

Born in 1953 in St. Stephen, Will spent his life in construction and was known for his unmatched work ethic and determination. No one could outwork him. He never missed a day. If he got hurt, he would duct tape himself back up and get back to it. Even on days he was told to stay home, he showed up anyway. For Will, work was not just a job. It was pride, purpose, and proof that you could be counted on.

A stubborn cowboy with a strong presence, Will stood his ground and lived life on his own terms. He was also known as the life of the party, always with a story to tell and a dance move ready. He had a way of framing a moment that made people smile and laugh. If Will was there, you knew it was going to be a good time.

The greatest thing Will ever built was a legacy that will outlast any job site. His family.

Will is survived by his loving children: Melinda Moffatt (Aaron), Josh Cloney (Kristan), Liam Cloney (Taylor), and Meghan Cloney (Lawson); and his cherished grandchildren: Rylan and Cage Cloney, Arya Moffatt, and Gannon and Bryer Cloney. He is also survived by his beloved brothers, Bennett Cloney (Zita) and Jeff Cloney (Sandra), his partner, Lynda Henderson, and his loyal dog, Molly, along with a wide circle of extended family and lifelong friends, too numerous to name but never forgotten.

Will was predeceased by his dear brothers Paul, Frank, and Burton Cloney, and by his loving parents Eugene and Rena Cloney.

In keeping with Will’s request, there will be no funeral service. His family invite you to honor Will’s memory on Wednesday, March 4, 2026 from 6-8 PM at The S.O. Mehan & Son Funeral Home Ltd., 23 Main Street, St. Stephen, N.B.

The family asks that you raise a glass, share a story, and remember Will the way he would have wanted, with strength, laughter, and a little bit of that cowboy grit. As Willie Nelson once sang, “My heroes have always been cowboys.”

And for many of us, one of them always will be.

Condolences may be sent to the family online at mehanfuneralhome.ca
