It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of William “Bill” Dowling at the Charlotte County Hospital, St Stephen, N.B. on June 17, 2026.
Born in St. Stephen, he was a hardworking and dedicated plumber for more than 50 years. Through his skill, integrity, and strong work ethic, he earned countless customers, coworkers, and friends throughout his career. Working for Conrad Cooke, Seldon Smith & Sons and ending with his own business, Dowling’s Plumbing which he ran with his late wife, Jacquelyn.
Beyond his work, Bill found his greatest joy in spending time with his family. He was a proud and devoted father, grandfather who rarely missed an opportunity to cheer on his children and grandchildren from the sidelines. Whether it was hockey, softball, soccer, or any other sport, he loved attending games and travelling to tournaments, always offering encouragement and support.
An outdoor enthusiast, Bill enjoyed four wheeling, fishing, and listening to the river at the camps in Canoose, where family and friends gathered to share stories, laughter and create lasting memories. Known for his kindness, quiet strength, smart ass sense of humour and willingness to lend a helping hand. In his retirement years he loved to visit and go gallivanting around the country with his sister and late brother-in-law.
