Wayne W Porter

It is with deep regret and sorrow that we announce the peaceful passing of Wayne W. Porter of St. Stephen, NB, on July 16^th, 2024 at the Charlotte County Hospital  St Stephen, NB.

Wayne was the son of the late Hugh and Mary (Firlotte) Porter. 

Wayne retired after a long career as a representative of International Drug Co/Coca Cola and Humpty Dumpty for the Charlotte County region.  He worked for a time with Goldsmith Lumber Mill and his final employment was with the New Brunswick Tourism department as a tourism information specialist. With his great knowledge of Charlotte County, he was a definite asset to travelers. 

Wayne was well known in the sports community.  In his youth, he excelled in basketball as a point guard in high school.  He was also known for his pitching arm as a dominant left hander in the NB Senior League.  He was a member the Moores Mills Millionaires softball team in the eighties.  He excelled in horseshoes as well, achieving a provincial championship in 2008.  He also had a passion for billiards, regularly found at Dooley’s in St Stephen shooting pool and enjoying the company of lifelong friends.  Wayne’s trophy case was a constant reminder of his athletic prowess.

Wayne additionally had a love of, and an incredible eye for photography.  Always armed with his camera, a drive along any road or highway could lead to hours of picture taking of anything that caught his eye.  His photos appeared in local business’ calendars and were a staple to the local markets and shows.

Wayne is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Linda (Hewitt) Porter, his daughters, Michelle Porter (Mark Jackson) of Toronto, ON and Jill Porter (Doug Olsen) of Saint John.  Along with his wife and children Wayne is survived by his grandsons Nick Porter of Summerside, PEI, and Drew Sears of St Stephen, NB, his sister, Mary Ann Porter (Sterling Estey), his brothers Brian (Valerie) Porter of Pennfield, NB and Rod (Stephanie) Porter of St Stephen, NB, several nieces, nephews and cousins.

In addition to his parents, Wayne was predeceased by his brother Dale Porter and his sister Wanda Phillips.

A private family interment will occur at the Rollingdam United Cemetery, Rollingdam, NB.
