Viola “Vi” McCallum

It is with deep sadness that the family of Viola “Vi” McCallum announces her passing at the Charlotte County Hospital in St. Stephen, N.B., on August 30, 2026. Born in Saint John, N.B., she was the cherished daughter of the late Oliver and Doris Goodin.

Vi was a woman entirely devoted to her family and will be lovingly remembered by her brother Raymond, her sister Claudette, and her children Frank (Stacey Narrowmore), Nancy, Don (Tammy McCallum), and Terrence (Monique Levasseur McCallum). She was a proud grandmother to Nik and Josh McCallum, and Dion and Dallas Dastou. She also leaves behind numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family members who loved her dearly.

In her younger days, Vi gave back generously as an active, long-time volunteer with the Lionettes and was a familiar face at the St. Stephen Curling Club. Later in life, she enjoyed her time working at the Currency Exchange inside the Tourist Bureau.

Vi was happiest when surrounded by family, especially while playing board and card games. Her sharp, competitive spirit stayed with her to the very end, happily winning a final game of Yahtzee during her last visit with her grandchildren.

Though mobility issues eventually kept her from her regular BINGO games at the Legion, her love for curling never waned, and she spent hours watching every championship game on television.

Vi faced significant physical pain over the past few years with immense grace, always lighting up during visits from family and friends. While our lives will be emptier without her, we are profoundly grateful for the time we shared and the peace she has now found.

At Vi’s request, there is no funeral or memorial service planned, but the family will always hold her in their hearts.
