Stephen Hayes Harrington
1922 - 2010
HARRINGTON - Stephen Hayes Harrington of St. Stephen, NB passed away peacefully in the Charlotte County Hospital on December 31, 2010.
Steve was born on November 6, 1922 in Granby, Quebec. In 1944 he married his loyal companion Magdalena Gakeff, and with her he served in various congregations of Jehovah’s Witnesses in Ontario and the Maritimes for over 66 years, until the day of his death. In his battle with cancer, his strong faith gave him remarkable courage and he remained focused on the Bible based hope of resurrection to life on a paradise earth.
Steve will be lovingly remembered for his unwavering faith, his strength and endurance and his love for creation.
He is survived by his wife Magdalena, their children Naomi Hall of Courtenay, BC, David Harrington (Nancy) of Halifax, NS, and Anne Harrington of St. Stephen, NB; their grandchildren Christine, Michael, Peter, Susan and Aaron, and 5 great grandchildren; his brothers Leigh Harrington, Robert Harrington and sister Beryl Braund, all of Ontario; and several nieces and nephews.
He is predeceased by his grandson Daniel.
Funeral arrangements are in care of The S.O. Mehan & Son Funeral Home Ltd., 23 Main Street, St. Stephen, NB. Memorial service will be held at 2:00 pm Saturday, January 8, 2011 at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, 9161 Route 3, Old Ridge, NB.
