Rose Anna M. Waite

1936 - 2023

Rose Anna M. Waite passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Wednesday, September 13, 2023 at the Passamaquoddy Lodge in St. Andrews, N.B. after a five-year long battle with metastatic breast cancer.

Born in Cap Pele, N.B. in 1936, the daughter of the late Annie (LeBlanc) and Fred Cormier, she was one of sixteen siblings.

Rose Anna spent her life close to the ocean, working from a young age in the seafood industry and proving herself as a hard worker. At the age of fourteen she moved with her parents to Chamcook, N.B. where she would begin working at the clam factory in Chamcook. There she would meet, and years later at the age of twenty-six, marry her great love Osborne "Ossie" Waite. Together they would open the world renown seafood takeout "Ossie's Lunch".

Tragically Rose Anna was widowed at a young age, but she continued to run Ossie's Lunch where she thrived and became the successful businesswoman most know her as today. She continued to work at Ossie's well into her eighties.

Rose Anna is known throughout the community as a kind, warm and caring woman who would take the time to stop and talk to anyone who needed someone to listen. She is also well known for her delicious baking, including her mouthwatering donuts, homemade pies and fresh homemade bread. Most importantly Rose Anna was a mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who loved spending time with her family, going on family vacations and spoiling her grandkids and great grandkids. Her absence will be felt greatly by those who loved her.

Rose Anna is survived by her daughter Angela Tessier (Rene), grandchildren Monique MacDonald (Randy) and Matthew Tessier (Danielle), great-grandchildren Mila and Hayes. She is also survived by sisters Delima Maillett (Alphonse), Corinne Goguen (Albert), Florence Bourque (Romuald), Premilia Doiron (Ovila), Leona Goguen (Leonce), Francine Cormier (Joseph), and Dorilla Brun (Rheal) and brothers Alfred Cormier (Maria), Alonzo Cormier (Ellen) and Emery Cormier (Jean), as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins.

In addition to her parents and late husband she was predeceased by her sisters Victorine Cormier and Anita Cormier (Leo), and brothers Alcide Cormier (Rita), Leo Cormier (Yvonne) and Oswald Cormier (Diane).  She was also predeceased by her stepdaughter Beverly Anne Buckley (Neil).

In keeping with Rose Anna’s wishes, a private family service will be held.  The family will receive friends at The S.O. Mehan & Son Funeral Home Ltd., 23 Main Street, St. Stephen, N.B. on Friday, October 6, 2023 from 6-8 PM.
