Rosalie Curran
1933 - 2024
It is with heavy hearts that the family announce the peaceful passing of our mother and grandmother, Rosalie (Hall) Curran, at Passamaquoddy Lodge in St. Andrews, NB on the evening of Wednesday July 10, 2024.
Born and raised in Elmsville, NB, she is the daughter of the late Raymond and Jennie (Morrell) Hall, and widow of the late Wesley H. Curran.
Over the years mom had employment in various places but was most famously known for running her grandfather’s country store in Elmsville until its closing in 1974.
Mom had a zest for life and was a social butterfly. Whether it be in her early years at Murphy’s Dance Hall or her later years playing bingo and selling her meat pies at the local market. She enjoyed travelling, near and far, knitting, and a good game of cards. But above all else, she loved her family.
The last living member of her immediate family, she is survived by her daughter & son-in-law Kathy & Gene Gowan of Elmsville, NB; her son and daughter-in-law Eldon & Marianne Curran of Hamilton, ON; daughter-in-law Darlene Curran of Hamilton, ON; her 6 grandchildren, Eugene Gowan (Heidi), Brittany Gowan Noble (Tim), Jason Curran (Maria), Jennifer Viveiros (Derek), Alyssa Curran, and Kayla Curran (Nathan); her 11 great grandchildren, Lacresha, Drake, Austin, Sophia, Emily, Mateo, Cruz, Kayden, Cassius, Kai, and Leo, several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
In addition to her parents and husband, she is predeceased by son Wesley Curran (Bimbo) and infant daughter Frances.
The family would like to extend their sincerest gratitude to Doreen Johnson and Denise Hall, who allowed mom to remain in her home for as long as she could. As well, to all the staff at Passamaquoddy Lodge who cared for her for the last 21 months.
Resting at The S.O. Mehan & Son Funeral Home Ltd. 23 Main Street St Stephen, NB from where the funeral service will be held on Thursday, July 18th, 2024 at 2 pm. Family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday July 17th, 2024 from 6 – 8 pm and Thursday July 18th, 2024 from 12 pm until service time.
Interment will be at the Christ Church Cemetery, Elmsville, New Brunswick
