Ronald A Bedford of Moores Mills, NB, passed unexpectedly on April 2, 2026.
Born in 1945, the son of the late Willard and Dorothy Bedford.
Ronald was born in St Stephen and raised in Oak Haven. He later moved to Moores Mills where he raised his family. He enjoyed spending time at his camp (down back) in Oak Haven.
From a very young age he worked in the woods, his first job being with Wayne McKnight.
He later started his own company and drove transport hauling pulp wood, logs and tree length, working many long hours to support his family. He would leave before dawn, often being home for dinner and then going to load up after dinner so he would not have to wait in line at the mills.
In his younger years, Ron enjoyed hunting, fishing and horseshoes. More recently he enjoyed playing washers and always loved playing cards, especially cribbage and poker with anyone who would play, as long as he could win.
He will always be missed and remembered as a hard working, loving father and grandfather who was always interested in what and how everyone was doing.
He is survived by his children; Douglas Bedford (Tammy), Holly Warden (James) and Nicole Scullion (Thomas), grandchildren; Randal, Ryan, Kyle, Kelsey, Julia, Mitchell and Grace, sister-in-law; Lori Bedford, and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he is predeceased by his first wife; Mary and common-law wife; Donna Barter, brother; Vernon Bedford and sister Betty Moore.
The family will receive friends at The S.O. Mehan & Son Funeral Home, 23 Main Street St Stephen, NB on Monday April 6, 2026, from 6 – 8 pm.
Interment will be held at the Oak Bay Rural Cemetery Oak Bay, NB at a later date.
For those who wish, donations to the Charlotte County SPCA or NB Heart & Stroke or a charity of one’s choice would be appreciated. Condolences can be made to the family online at www.mehanfuneralhome.ca
