Nancy A. Smith

Nancy A. Smith passed away peacefully at her residence in Saint John, N.B. on Saturday, February 24, 2024.

Born in St. Stephen, N.B., daughter of late F. Willis Smith and Effie M. (Raymond) Smith.

Nancy had a hard life with many struggles, it sure wasn't easy. She was a very hard worker; she would do a lot of odd jobs to make a little extra cash. She picked bottles and cans, picked tips, raked blueberries, shovelled snow, painted, raked leaves and mowed lawns in the scorching heat.  She loved being outside being active. Oh my, she could have fun at the wreath shop singing, dancing, jumping on the tables and having fun with the girls. She liked going out with friends to have a few drinks every now and then.  Always acting the fool, she surely could get a little wild and crazy. She was always saying how she needed a haircut because her hair was so curly.

She had a temper and could be a bit stubborn and spoke her mind and told it like it was. She gave you her opinion like it or not, but as well had a big heart and was so kind and help anyone.

She cherished her cat Bootsie, enjoyed listening to music, riding her bike down through town, going to Tim Hortons for coffee and standing in the parking lot talking to friends. She loved family gatherings, especially all the homemade sweets, peanut butter fudge, her favorite cherry balls and of course she always made sure to take some home.

She enjoyed going out to dinner, car rides to see different places, coffee with her daughters and grandkids, graduations and special events making memories.

Nancy is survived by her daughters, Amanda Smith and Tanya Savoie, both of Saint John, N.B., grandchildren, Dawson Mathews, Tommy Smith, Kaden Smith and Taylor Swim, all of Saint John, N.B.

She also leaves behind her sisters, Doreen Smith (Orris) of Upper Mills, N.B., Tammy Savoy (Joe) of St. George N.B, brothers, Leo Smith of Nova Scotia and Lee Smith of Ontario., many nieces, nephews and cousins.

In additions to her parents, she was predeceased by her brother, Kenny Smith and his wife Marian, Stedman Smith, John Smith, Dennis Smith, Calvin Smith, sisters, Donna Bradford and her husband Alan Bradford, Mary and Ann Marie.

The family will receive friends at The S.O. Mehan & Son Funeral Home Ltd., 23 Main Street, St. Stephen, N.B. on Wednesday, February 28, 2024 from 6-8 PM. There will be no funeral service held.
