Marion Inez Ruddock

1913 - 2010

Marion Inez Ruddock went home to be with her Lord on Friday, January 15, 2010, at the Loch Lomond Villa. She was in her 97th year. She was born in Tower Hill, NB, to Bertha (Libby) and Stanley Irving. Marion was a 63-year member of the Pythian Sisters. She was a Past Supreme Representative of this international organization and an Honorary Grand Chief of the Grand Temple of Maine. She was a founding member of the International Pythian Jubilee held in St. Stephen each September and enjoyed a multitude of friends throughout Canada and the United States. Marion taught school in Charlotte and York Counties for 34 years and retired as Vice Principal of Milltown Elementary School. She enjoyed her profession and supply taught in District 8 and at the NB Community College after moving to Saint John in 1973. Travel and volunteering occupied her retirement years. Her volunteer work included many years serving on the Loch Lomond Villa Auxiliary and regular Tuesday programs with the CNIB. She traveled extensively throughout Canada, the United States, Europe, and even into Africa. Her favorite trips were to the British Isles. She was a member of the Kirk McColl United Church, St. Stephen, and attended Silver Falls United Church and St. James Lakewood Anglican Church while living in Saint John. As a regular supporter of the Canadian Bible Society, she received a certificate of appreciation in 2006. Marion will be remembered by all who knew her for her love and generosity as well as her great story-telling ability. She was a loving great-grandmother (Nanny Downstairs) to Raygan; a revered grandmother and role model for Michelle, and a caring mother and friend to Roger and Cecille. She was predeceased by her parents, her husband, Stanley A. Ruddock, and sisters Alice Robinson and Roberta Turcott. She is survived by her son Roger (Cecille), her granddaughter Michelle (Jamie) MacIsaac, and great-granddaughter Raygan as well as several nieces and nephews. Resting at The S.O. Mehan & Son Funeral Home Ltd., 23 Main Street, St. Stephen, NB from where funeral service will be held on Monday, January 18, 2010 at 11 AM. Interment at St. Stephen Rural Cemetery. Visiting hours will be held at the funeral home on Sunday, January 17, 2010 from 7 to 9 PM. Pythian Sisters will conduct a service on Sunday evening at 6:30 PM Donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated in lieu of flowers.
