Marianne Rosemarie Lankisch

Lankisch, Marianne Rosemarie 1936-2010 St. Andrews It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that we announce that Marianne Lankisch (Kunze), much beloved wife, mother, grandmother and friend passed away suddenly on September 15, 2010 at Charlotte County Hospital as a result of an accident.

Born in Berlin, Germany as the only child of Gertrude and Willi Kunze on July 26, 1936 Marianne learned early the importance of family and overcoming challenges. Life lessons she brought with her when she came to Canada in 1961. Trained as a professional secretary, Marianne left her job with a German Engineering Firm to devote herself to raising a family when she married Charles on November 23, 1961 in Schefferville, Quebec. Her first child, Gordon was born there in 1963 and her second, Susan was born in Bathurst (1965) after the family relocated there in 1965. In partnership with her husband, Marianne embarked on a new adventure in 1969 when they purchased their first motel in Campbellton, New Brunswick. It was not long however before they set out for a more southern climate and set their sights on southern New Brunswick and St. Andrews. The move took two years to accomplish with Marianne running one motel up north and Charles establishing their new home base and business in the south.

In 1973 Marianne and Charles completely began their lives in St. Andrews to raise their family and build their business, the Blue Moon Motel. Through hard work and dedication, together they built up their business to include a restaurant and second motel, the Picket Fence in 1982. Marianne enjoy their guests and even after retiring was active and able to lend a hand when needed at either business now operated by her children.

Marianne is survived by her loving husband of 49 years, Charles and son Gordon (Kim) and daughter Susan (Vern) both of St. Andrews. Oma will be missed by three wonderful grandchildren Sampson, Isaac and Zeke all of St. Andrews.

Funeral service will be held from The S. O. Mehan & Son Funeral Home Ltd., 23 Main Street, St. Stephen, NB on Monday, September 20, 2010 at 2PM. Family will receive friends at the funeral home from 1-2 PM Monday.
