Margaret L. Leavitt

Mom passed away on Monday, June 14, 2021, at the Charlotte County Hospital, St Stephen, NB.

She was born in Calais, Maine on April 20, 1931, daughter of the late Kathleen and Curtis Glidden. She was the oldest of four children.

Before getting married Mom worked at a sardine plant in Eastport, Maine. After her marriage to Dad, she moved to St Stephen and went to work at Ganong’s. She then worked at Ware Knitters in Calais, from where she retired.

Mom was a quiet woman who loved reading, going to Bingo, watching her favorite shows, and baking. Above all else, she loved her family.

She is survived by her children: June (Darren) Justason of Waweig, NB. and Ann (Ian) Shaw of St Stephen, NB., grandchildren: Adam Frigault of Langley, BC. and Amy Shaw of Saint John, NB., great-grandchildren: Lilian, Saoirse, Kenny, Gavin, Hailie, Riannan, Brooke and Addyson. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband James, brother, Curtis Glidden, sisters, Marion Dickerson, and Evelyn Dickerson.

A graveside service will be held at the St Stephen Rural Cemetery, St Stephen, NB. on Thursday, June 17, 2021 at 11 AM. Visiting hours will be held at The S.O. Mehan & Son Funeral Home Ltd., 23 Main Street, St Stephen, NB. on Wednesday, June 16, 2021 from 6-8 PM.
