Lucy J Johnson

It is with broken hearts that the family of Lucy J. Johnson announce her passing at the Charlotte County Hospital, St. Stephen, N.B. on Sunday, August 20, 2023.

Lucy was the daughter of Albert and Barbara Johnson and lived in Andersonville until she moved to Montreal to pursue her career as a BN, later combining her love for travel and her job. She travelled to various parts of Florida and Texas working as a travelling nurse. When her mom and dad were experiencing failing health, she moved home to help in their care and continued her nursing career in St. Stephen. She helped many people and touched many lives during the time she worked as a nurse at CCH, teaching the LPN course at NBCC or working at Mental Health.

Lucy loved a challenge and was always up for working out a solution, which I believe, helped her to cope when circumstances left her life changed forever and confined to a wheelchair. She spent many months at the Stan Cassidy facility in Fredericton and credits them highly for her care and rehabilitation while a patient there. Many of the doctors and workers became her friends and continued that friendship after she left the facility. In April, Lucy was given another health challenge that she was unable to find a solution for, but she certainly tried her best and continued reassuring her family and friends that everything would be ok-whatever the outcome was to be. Her strong faith never faltered.

Lucy's world revolved around her much-loved great-nieces and nephews, Jacob, Emmy, Matthew, Michael, Nate, Neila and Austin as well as her fur babies, Oliver, Eli and Finnegan - they were her life.

Along with her sisters, Mary Lou Fairweather (Larry) and Becky Johnson, Lucy leaves behind her nephews; Jamie Fairweather (Donna), Jonathan Fairweather (Arletta), Daniel Hartling (Krista), nieces; Heather Hartling and Susan Cormier (Curtis), brother-in-law, Rick Hartling and aunt, Anne Graham.

In addition to her parents, Lucy was predeceased by her sisters, Susan Johnson, Sharon Hartling and great-niece, Lauren Fairweather.

Even during Lucy's last days, she was thinking about others and wanting us all to remember that Life Is Good and to live every day to it's fullest - not to be sad but be grateful we have this day.

Funeral service will be held at The S. O. Mehan and Son Funeral Home Ltd., 23 Main Street, St Stephen, N.B. on Thursday, August 24, 2023 at 2 PM. Her family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday, August 23, 2023 from 2-4 and 6-8 PM.

Interment at Brockway Union Cemetery, Brockway, New Brunswick.
