Larry Howland

After a brief illness, Larry A. Howland, of Mayfield, NB, passed at the Charlotte County Hospital, St Stephen, NB, on Saturday September 7, 2024.

Larry was the son of the late Merle and Dorothy (Greenlaw) Howland.

A beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, Larry is remembered by hundreds for his wisdom, kindness and generosity.  He spent decades as a driver of the "Big Blue Bus", ensuring youth had reliable rides to and from church and youth events. This seemingly simple gesture is attributed by many as being a vital part of who they ended up being as an adult.

Larry is remembered with his wife Anne, as a pivotal member of the youth ministry touching the lives of so many with his guidance and positive influence. 

Larry was a pillar of the St. Stephen community for 47 years serving in many roles at the local GM dealership.  He is remembered by all that worked with him for his wise leadership and positivity. 

Larry loved nothing more than his family.  In recent years he spent his time adventuring on side-by-sides with his son Rob in the summers and exploring Florida with his daughter Cheryl and granddaughter Alyssa in the winters. He loved riding through the streets near his Florida home on his bike and is remembered by many for his friendly waves and conversations.

Larry took great pride in the maintenance of his yard and equipment and many know him for his love of tractors, specifically "John Deere."

He is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Anne, son, Robert (Cynthia), daughter, Cheryl Patterson, granddaughter, Alyssa Patterson, grandson, Jacob Howland, great-grandson, Finley Howland, one brother, Jerry Howland, several nieces and nephews, as well as his bonus grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was also predeceased by his brother, Benjamin Howland.

A graveside service will be held on Thursday September 12, 2024 at the Oak Bay Rural Cemetery, Oak Bay, NB at 2 pm.  Following the graveside service, there will be a Celebration of Life held at the St Croix Christian Center, 444 Milltown Blvd  St Stephen, NB.
