It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Kenneth H. Brown of St. Stephen New Brunswick, on June 9th, 2026, at Charlotte County Hospital, St. Stephen N.B.
Born in 1947, Eastport, Maine son of the late Whitney and Hilda Brown.
Kenny graduated from the Motor Mechanics program at Lady Dunn Trade School in St. Andrews in 1966. It was there that he met the love of his life, Sharon McCurdy, whom he married later that same year.
Kenny began his career as a mechanic at Newman's Auto Service in Welshpool, Campobello and spent several years working as a commercial fisherman. An entrepreneur at heart, he went on to establish a garbage collection service for the residents of Campobello Island while also operating a building materials supply outlet for Haley's Lumber. Later, he founded his own company, Brown's Building Supplies.
Together, Kenny and Sharon operated a Sears outlet on Campobello Island and on two occasions, managed the restaurant at the Campobello Golf Course. Active in his community, Kenny served as President of the Local Service District and played an instrumental role in securing the Jaws of Life for the local fire department.
Kenny concluded his working career with the Department of Transportation, where he dedicated 34 years of service. During that time, he worked as both a snowplow operator and later as an inventory control clerk at the St. Stephen branch.
Kenny had a deep love for horses and was the proud owner of two horses that he enjoyed riding whenever he could. Retirement did little to slow him down; he remained busy as a property manager, short-order cook and carpenter.
Above all, Kenny's love for family ran deep. Known as Bumpy to his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He always had time for a good yarn with friends—or with strangers who quickly became friends. His sense of humour was one of his most memorable qualities and those who had the privilege of knowing him will never forget him. He will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by all whose lives he touched.
Kenny is survived by his children; Sherri Savoie (Eric) of Vancouver Island, B.C. Normie Brown of St. Stephen N.B. and James Brown of St. Stephen N.B., grandsons; Tanner Savoie and Spencer Savoie both of Vancouver Island, B.C. as well as 2 other grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren; Harper, Maddie, Clare, Elana, Storme, Abraham and Norreen, brother; Norman Brown (Janis) of Miramichi, N.B., his nieces; April Leblanc (Gilles) Julie Sheppard (Paul) and nephew; Matthew Brown.
In addition to his parents, Kenny is predeceased by his loving wife Sharon Brown (McCurdy) and best friend Blair Stanley.
In keeping with Kenny’s wishes, there will be no visitation or funeral services.
The family would like to thank Sarah Roy and Emily Rhodas of Extra Mural St. Stephen, Trish Mason, Letty Chisholm of Home Support St. Stephen, nurses and staff of Charlotte County Hospital; Katie Wilson, Brianna Seeley, Jenna Pitre, Theresa Irving, Wendy Brownrigg and Janessa Daigle.
And a special thanks to friends; Lesley Savage, Fred Stafford and Pam Grimmer, daughter-in-law; Sheleen Fitches, Bill and Winnifred Young for their help and support from Charlotte County Cancer Society.
