Joseph “Joey” Caissie

The peaceful passing of our brother, Joseph “Joey” Caissie, occurred on Friday September 18, 2026, at his home in St Stephen, NB following a courageous battle with cancer.

Joey was raised in McAdam, NB and loved sports from an early age, playing local hockey leagues in his youth.  After leaving McAdam, Joey lived in Toronto, ON for a while before realizing the big city just was not for him.  He then moved to Saint John, NB, where he drove taxi for many years before moving back to St Stephen to be closer to his family.

He enjoyed a lively game of crib and travelled widely for dart tournaments.  He spent vacations at the family’s favorite place in PEI, our dad’s birthplace at the shore and of course enjoyed endless feeds of fish and any kind of seafood he could forage or purchase at the nearby harbours.  He especially enjoyed his fishing trips with his brother; Ted, up to Diggity Brook each spring and stopping at any brook in between there and home, to fish along the way.

Joey’s last few weeks were spent at home, cheering his favorite team, the Toronto Blue Jays, hoping 2026 will be their year to win the World Series.

He is survived by his friend; Gail Lacelle-Savoie, her daughter; Chelsea, siblings; Debra Bright Andrew, Catherine Saulnier (Larry), Jacqueline Scott (Doug) Cheryl Leavitt (Terry Sr), Theodore Caissie (Lynne), Betty Corbett (Mike Greenier), several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.

Joey is predeceased by his parents; Alyre and June Caissie, maternal and paternal grandparents, sister; Alodie Perry (Ronald), infant sister; Joyce, brother-in-law; Paul Corbett, niece; Allena Corbett and nephew; Terry Leavitt Jr.

The family would like to thank the staff at Charlotte County Hospital, St Stephen, NB, NB Ambulance and Extra Mural for the care and compassion shown to Joe during his illness.  A big thanks to Andrea, his homeworker, who went above and beyond in helping us keep our brother at home, as per his wishes.

In honoring Joey’s wishes, there will be no visitation or funeral service.

A private family burial will be held at a later date at the Rockland Cemetery McAdam, NB.  A “special send off” will be held summer of 2027 at our favorite place, the shore in PEI.
