Joseph “Joe” Peters

It is with great sadness that the family of Joe Peters announce his passing with his family at his bedside. Joe passed away at Saint John Regional Hospital on October 22nd after a courage battle with cancer.

Born in 1966, Joe was the son of Buddy and Betty Anne Peters.

Joe will be greatly missed by his loving wife of 33 years, Pege, sons Jeremy and Joel (Jaymie), Dad, Buddy, siblings, Cathy Jackson (Steve), Jeff, Terri Dobson, (David) and Tom Duplessie, brothers-in­ law, Jimmy (Geri) Terry (Geraldine), niece, Katie Jackson, nephew, Chris Jackson (Bree) and their children, aunt Kaye Murray, uncle Lawson (Rosemary) Spires, many cousins and extended family from Massachusetts.

In addition to his Mom, Betty Anne, Joe was predeceased by his mother and father­ in-law, Jeanne and Jim Dunlap.

Joe had an inseparable group of friends. Their ongoing support does not go unnoticed.

Joe was employed by Arauco (Flakeboard) for 39 years where he held various positions. He took great pride in his work and has special memories of his co­workers, and his time spent there.

Joe was the past president of SSMHA (St. Stephen Minor Hockey Association). He was very devoted to this position, and he enjoyed helping coaches and many players of all ages.

In 2017, The Greater St. Stephen Sports Wall of Fame was founded by Joe. He was a dedicated member and valued working alongside of a great group of peers within the committee.

A celebration of Joe’s life will be held at The S.O. Mehan & Son Funeral Home Ltd., 23 Main Street, St Stephen, N.B. on Sunday, October 27, 2024 at 2 PM. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Saturday, October 26^th from 1-3 and 6-8 PM.

In lieu of flowers, donations to Charlotte County Cancer, St. Stephen Minor Hockey, Hospice of Charlotte and the SJRH Palliative Care Unit would be appreciated. Condolences may be sent to the family online at mehanfuneralhome.ca

The family would like to extend thanks to Nurse Practitioner, Yvonne Bartlett, Extra Mural Team - St. George, Dr. Burnell and the Oncology Unit at SJRH, the Nurses and Doctors of the Palliative Care Team who cared for Joe with sincere empathy during his last month, with special acknowledgement of Dr. Chris O'Brien for his genuine concern for Joe and his family.
