With sadness Bud, Pat, Tony and Michael announce the death of our elder brother, John Miller. John passed away due to cancer at the age of 59, on Tuesday October 6, 2006 at St. Paul’s Hospital in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan.John was a native of St. Stephen, New Brunswick before relocating to Saskatoon 19 years ago. He loved the outdoors, spending a lot of time hunting, fishing and trapping. He also loved entertaining people by singing, playing the guitar and reciting poetry. John was great with his hands and worked as a carpenter with the Hatt boys prior to leaving St. Stephen. He had a passion for dogs and made sure his dog was well taken care of before he passed on.At his request, John was cremated and his ashes were buried at a cathedral of nature, private family graveside service in St. Andrews Rural Cemetery. The service was presided over by Father Paul Riley and assisted by John’s brother, Tony Miller.At the graveside service, Tony spoke on the Gospel according to Luke, The Good Samaritan Story. Tony mentioned the Good Samaritan nature in the Miller Family. To make his point, Tony shared the story of their Brother Pat, who many years ago drove a rusty old gray car with a blue door and an orange hood, and how he stopped to give a boost to a shinny Cadillac. The Cadillac owner commented on her wonder if she would have stopped if the rusty old car needed a boost.John was predeceased by our brother, Frankie, in 1954, our father, Joe, in 1962, our sister, Anne, in 1979 and our mother, Mary, in 1987. John’s ashes are buried beside our father, grandmother and grandfather.
