It is with heavy hearts that the family of Jacqueline R. (Laking) Lord, announces her passing on Thursday, August 29, 2024, at the Wauklehegan Manor, McAdam, N.B., with the love of her life by her side, Alfred J. Lord.
Mom was born in McAdam, N.B. in 1933 to parents Clair W. and Bessie M. (Sutherland) Laking.
Mom graduated from McAdam high school in 1950 receiving the prestigious Burke Medal. She chose to build a life with Dad, and they were married on August 2nd, 1950, at St. George’s Anglican Church, recently celebrating their 74th wedding Anniversary. They raised six children spanning through McAdam, LaSalle and Saint John. In earlier years, Mom belonged to the Eastern Star, a local bowling league, worked part time at K-Mart, and kept us all nourished with her delicious meals, clothed us with her precise sewing skills, and knit many sweaters, hats and mittens to keep us all warm. She loved us all unconditionally. The love our parents had for one another was everlasting, she is forever Dad’s queen.
Mom is survived by her loving and devoted husband, Alfred, children; Lois Hodd, Barnesville, N.B, Mark (Anne) Lord, Kanata ON, Joseph (Denise) Lord and Jacqueline (Peter) Craft, all of Saint John, N.B., nine grandchildren; Kristel (Darren) Nason, Ron (Martine)Lord, Kevin Hodd, Patricia Lord, Shaun (Sarah) Lord, Rachel (Kolton) Smith, Kristen Lord (Scott Henry ), Kelsey Goodwin (Garry Milne) and Kyle Goodwin, nineteen great- grandchildren with many additional others, and one brother Paul Laking of Moncton, N.B.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by two cherished sons, Ronald Alfred Lord, Andrew James Lord, a grandson, Patrick Thomas Hodd, and son in law, Gerard Hodd, siblings; Ella (Odbur) Burrell, Lois (Bernell) Tracy, Ronald (Colleen) Laking, Hazel (Frank) McNally, Clair Laking and Gene (Lillian) Laking.
Funeral service will be held at St. George's Anglican Church, 53 Rockland Drive, McAdam NB, Oct 5th at 11am with Rev. Arnold Godsoe officiating. A reception will follow in the church hall.
