WEATHERBY- at Ridgewood Veterans Wing, Saint John ,NB. August 15, 2010. Herbert Charles Weatherby of St Stephen, NB. Son of the late Herbert B. and Freda W. (Bartlett) Weatherby.Born at Little Ridge, NB. June 11, 1922.
Survived by his wife Annie (Cook) Weatherby, children Gilda (Wayne) Gibson of St Stephen, NB. Roy (Marilyn) Greenlaw of St Stephen, NB. Debbie Greenlaw of Whitehorse, Yukon. Grandchildren Kimberly (Paul) Arseneau, Gerald (Christina) Greenlaw, Graydon Greenlaw, Sheena Greenlaw, great grandchildren Mitchell Arseneau, Drew Greenlaw and Madison Greenlaw, sister Betty Fletcher and brother Kenneth Weatherby both of Saint John, NB. several nieces and nephews.
Herbert was predeceased by his first wife May (Caughlin) Weatherby, son Peter Greenlaw and sister Jessie Cumberland.
In 1942 Herbert joined the Armed Forces participated in the D-Day Invaision. Survived Juno Beach and wounded three times before his discharge in 1945. Herb owned and operated Weatherbys Grocery Store for many years, loved to travel, fish, hunt and took great pride in his home. He was always ready with a helping hand and friendly smile.
Herbert was a life member and Past President of the Royal Canadian Legion St. Croix Branch #9. Received The Meritorious Award and his 65 year pin in 2009, life member of Victoria Masonic Lodge #26 F&AM and a member of the Men's Club. Resting at The S.O. Mehan & Son Funeral Home Ltd. 23 Main Street St. Stephen, NB. from where a funeral service will be held August 18 ,2010 at 2 PM.
Royal Canadian Legion St. Croix Branch #9 will conduct a tribute service following the funeral service
. Visiting hours will be held Tuesday August 17, 2010 7-9 PM. Victoria Lodge #26 F&AM service will be held at 7:00 PM, August 17, 2010, followed by International Lodge # 61 Knights of Pythias service at 7:30 PM .
Interment at the St Stephen Rural Cemetery, St Stephen, NB. For those who wish, donations to the Atlantic Baptist Church Fund, Charlotte County Cancer ,or the Charity of Choice would be appreciated by the family.
