Hazel E. Wilcox

It is with heaviest hearts, the family of Hazel E. Wilcox (Merchant) announce her passing at the Charlotte County Hospital St. Stephen, New Brunswick., on July 28, 2025, surrounded by the love of her family.

Hazel was born in 1938, to the late Percy E. and Florence E. Merchant (Libby).

She was the last survivor of thirteen children; she was a fighter to the end.

Hazel had to quit school in grade seven so to work in the woods with her Mum.  They had used a crosscut and horse to haul the wood.  In one summer, they would cut and peel 97 cord of wood from the family’s mountain.

She was a hard worker; had shelled clams for forty-seven years and made a great living for her family. 

Hazel was a very strong lady that loved her family immensely.  She would enjoy family and friends get togethers.  With the love of music, she was a remarkable singer.  Hazel also had the love of horses.

Hazel was very proud to be saved and baptized in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.

She is survived by her children; Wesley Wilcox (Connie), Danny Wilcox, Tim Wilcox (Heather), and Teresa Wilcox (Frank), several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

At Hazel’s request, there will be no visitation.

There will be a graveside service on Friday August 1, 2025, at 2 pm at the St Andrews Rural Cemetery St Andrews, New Brunswick.
