H. Minnie Wormell

It is with heavy hearts that the family of Minnie Wormell announces her peaceful passing on August 26, 2026, at Lincourt Manor in St. Stephen, New Brunswick. She was 92 years old.

Born at Chipman Memorial Hospital to the late Wilmot and Blanche (Allison) Hall, Minnie was a resilient spirit from the very beginning, starting life at less than four pounds. She grew up in a lively household with three brothers, learning early on how to hold her own. Minnie was the last surviving member of her immediate family.

For many years, Minnie and her beloved husband, Eugene, were an inseparable team. After Eugene finished driving trucks for his father, they co-founded a successful farm equipment business, where Minnie managed the parts shop with dedication. They later transitioned into real estate, managing fifty-four apartment units and flipping houses—Minnie was rarely seen without a paintbrush in her hand. Together, they also operated a popular antique and used furniture store in St. Stephen, where her warm personality made it a favorite gathering place for locals.

Minnie’s civic impact was profound. Alongside her husband and her son, Don, who cleared the land where the building sits, Minnie worked tirelessly with a few dedicated board members to turn the vision of Lincourt Manor into a reality. Though she did not join formal civic organizations, she worked countless hours supporting Eugene in the Rotary and Shrine clubs.

In their retirement years, Minnie and Eugene found great joy traveling near and far to attend local music nights. Above all, Minnie loved her family fiercely and was known affectionately as the world’s best worrier, constantly looking out for everyone she knew.

She was predeceased by her loving husband, Eugene Wormell; her son, Donald; her grandparents, Wilmot Tilley and Laura (Acheson) Hall, and Henry and Elizabeth Allison; and her brothers, Don (Sandra), Ronnie (Nina), and Billy (Vickie).

Minnie’s legacy lives on through her surviving family: daughter Lynda (Doug) Swan, daughter -in-law Liz Delano (late Don) grandchildren and great-grandchildren, Jason Swan (Mary) and their children Georgia and Matthias, Justin Swan (Amanda) and their children Summer and Grayson., sister-in-law Sandra Hall, nieces, and nephews.

The family extends their deepest gratitude to the staff of Lincourt Manor for the exceptional care, love, and compassion shown to Minnie over the past year. She truly loved her home there, the staff, and the musical entertainment. Special thanks are also extended to all who visited, and to her nieces, Susan Justason and Sharon Gayton, for their invaluable help with appointments when we couldn’t be there.

A graveside service will be held at the St. Stephen Rural Cemetery on Wednesday, September 2, 2026 at 2 PM.  In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that memorial donations be given to Kirk McColl United Church or Lincourt Manor Resident Fund – P.O.
