Gordon L Clark "Knobby" at the age of 94, passed away peacefully on March 25, 2026, in Kentville, Nova Scotia.
A man who believed “Life’s too short to skip dessert”.
Born in 1931, he was the son of the late Harold "Spec" and Eleanor Clark.
Gordon served in the Canadian Navy on the aircraft carries with HMCS Magnificent and the HMCS Bonaventure. After leaving the military Gordon worked for Environment Canada till his retirement.
He was not one to sit idle for to long and soon found employment in the Oil & Gas sector offshore on the “Bow Drill 1” and the “Henry Goodrich” rigs as a weather/ice observer for several years.
Later, he worked for Canadian Coast Guard as a lighthouse keeper; Greenpoint lighthouse, Machias Seal Island, Swallowtail and Gannet Rock on Grand Manan, New Brunswick.
Gordon loved to talk about all his adventures to all that would listen. Most of all he loved his family, his cottage at Oak Bay, NB, Al Jolson songs and his coffee crisp.
Left to miss him dearly is his wife of 75 years, Joan, children; Heather (Barry), Nadine (Rai), Terri (Gary), Jodie and Fraser (Ronee), eight grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren, two sisters-in-law; Lois (Gary), Jackie and their families.
In addition to his parents, Gordon was predeceased by his grandson; Bailey, nephew; Richard, sisters; Ruth, Betty and Haroldine and his brother-in-law; Ray.
A celebration of life will take place on Saturday June 13, 2026, at 2 pm from The S.O. Mehan & Son Funeral Home, 23 Main Street St. Stephen, New Brunswick. The family will receive friends from 1pm until service time.
