Garnett Hayes

Garnett J. Hayes passed away peacefully at the Saint John Regional Hospital, Saint John, N.B. on April 4, 2026.

Born in July of 1944 in Saint John, Garnett was the adopted son of William Hayes.

Garnett grew up in Woodstock, N.B., he spent his early years working on the railroad with his father and he also spent many years working in the stables at Island Park Raceway and Connell Park.

In 1971 he moved to St. Stephen where he made many friends. He was never one to shy away from a conversation…..oh, how he loved to talk to anyone who would listen. He would also never pass up an opportunity to tease, share a story or a smile. You could always see him around town riding  his bike, mowing lawns and doing yard work at the local RBC branch.

Funeral service will be held at The S.O. Mehan & Son Funeral Home Ltd., 23 Main Street, St Stephen, N.B. on Saturday, April 11, 2026 at 12 Noon. There will be no visitation held.

Interment at St. Stephen Rural Cemetery, St. Stephen, N.B.
