Edward “Eddy” Gouchie

It is with profound sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Edward “Eddy” L. Gouchie, on August 7, 2026, at Charlotte County Hospital, surrounded by his family, following a short but courageous battle with cancer.

Eddy was born in Tunaville, New Brunswick, one of four siblings. From a young age, he developed an incredible gift for music, with a particular talent for songwriting, guitar, piano, and harmonica. Music was woven into the fabric of his life. He travelled from coast to coast playing music, leaving his mark on the many people he met along the way.

A true jack of all trades, there was seemingly nothing Eddy couldn’t fix, build, or create. He possessed an immense intellect and an endlessly curious mind. He was equally comfortable delivering a quick joke as he was engaging in a deep philosophical conversation. He loved discussing the intricacies of countless subjects, always with remarkable specificity, depth, and thoughtfulness.

Of all his many talents, however, being a father was Eddy’s most important role. He took great joy in creating experiences, adventures, and memories with his children, and later with his grandchildren. His family was his greatest source of pride, and the love he had for them was evident in everything he did.

Eddy is survived by his beloved wife of 41 years, Elaine Stewart ; his children, Haida Gouchie (Phil Trodden), Chanel Gouchie (Andrew Allport), and Spencer Gouchie (Deanna Horne); his grandchildren Alaina Trodden, Dylan Trodden, Ava Caissie, Lily Allport, Shay Gouchie and Levi Gouchie; and his siblings, Gerald Gouchie, Patsy Brownell (Cecil) and Sheila Gouchie.

He was predeceased by his parents, Vernice (Brown) Gouchie and Douglas Gouchie.

There will be no formal funeral service, in keeping with Eddy’s wishes. His family will instead gather at a later date to celebrate his life, his music, and the countless memories he left behind.

We would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the extra mural nursing program for all the support and compassion they provided our family.

Our world feels a little emptier without you in it now, but we will carry on all we’ve learned from you, with your beautiful music forever in our hearts. Till we see you again.
