Donald L. McLaughlin

Donald L. McLaughlin passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family, at the Charlotte County Hospital in St Stephen, NB on Friday, November 8, 2024.

Born in St Stephen, NB, in 1936, he was the son of the late Harry and Elsie (Omar) McLaughlin. Don is survived by his sons, Alan and Steven (Holly) of St Stephen and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his wife of 60 years, Mary Lou.

Don had many jobs over the years, but he truly enjoyed his time spent working for the St. Croix Courier on the printing press and the many years working for the Department of Transportation where he received his 25-year award. He was a talented artist and sign maker having started McLaughlin Signs over 60 years ago. He created a job for both his sons in the sign business and worked along side them until his retirement 4 years ago.

Don was a member of the Lions Club and recently received his 60-year Chevron award. He took pride in serving his community and helping to start Santas Helpers. He was also a long-time member of the Masons Alley Lodge #14 having served as Master on more than one occasion.

Don loved to build and create. He built a "mini shop" just a few years ago to have a place to build his birdhouses, wood crafts, and miniature buildings for his model railway. He also had a passion for antique cars and took great pride in "0L Blue" the '48 Dodge and "Henry" the '54 Ford.

Funeral service will be held at The S.O. Mehan & Son funeral Home Ltd., 23 Main Street, St Stephen, N.B. on Friday, November 15, 2024 at 1 PM. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday, November 14 from 6-8 PM. A Masonic Tribute service will be held on Thursday evening at 7:45 PM.

Interment at St. Stephen Rural Cemetery, St. Stephen, N.B will take place on Friday, November 15 at 3:45 PM.
