Derek W. Gullison

It is with profound sadness the family announce the passing of Derek W. Gullison on Friday April 4, 2025, at his home in Woodlands, NB after a courageous battle with cancer.

Derek was born in St Stephen, NB to Glen and the late Joey (Leslie) Gullison.

After graduation from St. Stephen High School, St. Stephen, NB, Derek worked at a variety of jobs.  He performed every job with attentiveness and was a very hard worker.  He eventually found his niche in carpentry.  Derek worked building many houses in New Brunswick and Nova Scotia.  He was very skilled and could be called a "perfectionist".

In his free time, he enjoyed fishing, playing guitar, working with horses, watching the Habs play hockey and skating with Finlay.  He especially enjoyed the fishing trips with his Dad and brothers, and most recently, a trip to Montreal with his brothers to watch the Habs play in person, weeks before his passing.  Derek loved his family fiercely and would drop anything to help anyone of them out.

Derek is survived by his Dad; Glen, wife; Becca, his sons; Kirkland (Chelsea) and Finlay, brothers; Maurice (Marilyn) and Glen, sisters-in-law; Barb and Nancy, several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.

In addition to his Mom, Derek was predeceased by his brother; Doug, sister; Stacey and brother-on-law; Nick Defazio.

Funeral Service will be at The S.O. Mehan & Son Funeral Home Ltd., 23 Main Street, St Stephen, NB on Saturday April 12, 2025, at 2 pm. Family will receive friends on Saturday April 12, 2025, from 1 pm until service time.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Derek’s memory to Charlotte County Cancer or a charity of one’s choice would be appreciated.  Condolences can be made to the family online at mehanfuneralhome.ca
