Curtis W. Caldwell

Curtis W. Caldwell passed away peacefully in his sleep at Lincourt Manor, St. Stephen, N.B. on Monday, March 24^, 2025.  He was just a few months short of his 70th birthday.

A hard worker, he had his first paying job at 11 years old.  He was the janitor for the little school just around the corner from where he grew up. Later as a teenager he worked on the Mac log trucks for FM Carson where he was mentored and treated as family. He often spoke of what he said was the best job he ever had while still a teen, working on the last two river drives close to home on the Saint Croix River. They worked in boats to collect logs that had been lost on other drives and floated them to the mill in Woodland, Maine.  As mentioned, he was a hard worker, but he knew how to enjoy life and took great pleasure in spending time with family and friends, attending drag races, hunting and fishing.  Curtis greatly enjoyed many pets over the years, often rescuing needy animals and helping care for them.

He was well known as a former drag racer and was considered one to beat in his black 1972 Dodge Charger, "Outlaw".  On behalf of the local car club, he even wrote articles on cars for the Saint Croix Courier.  Curtis had to chuckle when people assumed he hadn’t written them as they told him his wife was the writer in the family, she was only the typist.  He was great explaining how to work on anything mechanical, as his friends who depended on him for information can testify.

Curtis was trained as a welder. Afterwards, an Industrial Mechanic Journeyman. He then became a successful engine builder for Creighton-Carter, then had his own shop from his home on Little Ridge, N.B.   He was an associate member of the Legion in Saint Andrews, N.B.  This is where they displayed many of the plastic military models he had built.  He would expertly build and accurately painted them to be enjoyed by the veterans and visiting military that he so respected.

He leaves behind Janet (nee Lister), his high school sweetheart and wife of over 46 years, son; Ian, and granddaughters; Keira and Kjersten.

Curtis was predeceased by twin infant daughters; Erin Elizabeth and Ashley Lorraine.

A Celebrtation of Life will be held at a later date.

We wish to thank Extra Mural and Charlotte County Hospital for the wonderful care.  Also, to the staff at Lincourt Manor who gave him such loving care that made his last few months comfortable in a home away from home.
