It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Brian Haynes on May 20, 2026, surrounded by his loving family.
Born in Digby, Nova Scotia, Brian later made Grand Manan his home for over 30 years, where he built a life filled with hard work, laughter, family, and a deep love for animals and the outdoors.
Over the years, Brian worked many different jobs and enjoyed countless hobbies, always keeping busy and lending a helping hand wherever needed. In recent years, he found great joy in farming and caring for his animals, raising cows, pigs, goats, chickens, and turkeys. His love for animals was evident to everyone who knew him.
Above all else, Brian’s greatest pride and achievement were his children and grandchildren, who meant the world to him and will miss him dearly.
Brian is lovingly remembered by his partner, Charlotte Chamberlain; his children Kelly (Robert), Vernon (Natiana), Beth Ann (Ben), BJ “Brian Jr.” (Cassandra), and Chris; his cherished grandchildren Charlie, Rylee, Summer, Skylar, Anthony, Chandler, Salem, and Eric; and his loyal dog Hercules, who will miss him greatly.
He is also survived by his nephews Adam and Arnie Jr.; his sister and brother-in-law Ann and Jeff LaFrance; Jean and Chris Urquhart; and Darlene Garnett, along with many extended family members and friends whose lives he touched over the years.
Brian was predeceased by his mother Sharon Van Tassel, father Arnie Haynes, son Anthony, sister Judy, brother Arnie, nephew Kyle, brother-in-law Brian Garnett, and his beloved dogs Tucker and Daisy.
Brian will be remembered for his strong spirit, kind heart, love of family, and the simple life he cherished. His memory will live on in the stories shared, the lessons taught, and the love he gave so freely.
Forever loved and deeply missed.
In keeping with his wishes, there will be no funeral service or visitation held.
