Betty Anne Peters

It is with deep sorrow and much love that the family of Betty Anne Peters announce her passing at Lincourt Manor, St. Stephen, N.B. on Wednesday, June 7, 2023.

Born in 1944, Betty Anne was the daughter of the late Anna (Rigby) and Maynard Spires.

Throughout the years Betty Anne worked at various jobs. She was a switchboard operator at NB Tel; a clerk at the Metropolitan Store, a florist at Mehan’s Flower Shop and a cashier at The St. Stephen Tax & Duty-Free Store.

After being diagnosed with MS at a young age, Betty Anne was an avid volunteer for the MS Walk. She always had strong support from her "team" of walkers.

Betty Anne had a circle of friends that were dear to her heart, whether it be "long" chats on the phone, a coffee at the kitchen table, or a game of Rummoli, there were always a few laughs shared.

When she was able, she loved to bowl, attend Canada Day Celebrations in her hometown of St. Andrews and attend her son and grandson’s hockey games.

Betty Anne is survived by her husband of 58 years, Buddy, children, Cathy (Steven) Jackson; Joe (Pege) Peters, Jeff Peters, chosen son, Tom Duplessie and chosen daughter, Terri (David) Dobson, grandchildren, Katie Jackson and Chris Jackson (Bree). Jeremy Peters and Joel Peters, great- grandchildren: Rhyanne and Connor. She also leaves to mourn, her brother, Lawson (Rosemary) Spires, nephew, Dwayne (Rebeca) Spires, nieces, Jocelyn (Brian) Hoyt and Amanda (Adam) Parsons; along with their children, sister-in-law, Kaye Murray and niece, Janice Murray (Kenny), several cousins and her extended family in Massachusetts.

In addition to her parents, Betty was predeceased by her brother-in-law, Gordon Murray and nephews, Bryan and Stephen Murray.

Funeral service will be held at The S.O. Mehan & Son Funeral Home Ltd., 23 Main Street, St. Stephen, N.B. on Tuesday, June 13, 2023 at 2 PM. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday, June 12, 2023 from 2-4 and 6-8 PM.

Interment at Milltown Catholic Cemetery, Barter Settlement, N.B.
