Bertha A Bernier

1944 - 2026

It is with heavy hearts that the family of Bertha A. Bernier announces her passing at the Saint John Regional Hospital Saint John, New Brunswick on Saturday March 7, 2026.

Born in 1944, the daughter of the late Richmond and Elizabeth (McVicar) Leavitt.

Bertha spent her early years in St Stephen, New Brunswick and then later made her home in Musquash, New Brunswick.

Bertha will be remembered for her kindness, warmth and the love she shared with her family and friends. She cherished time spent with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren while creating many treasured memories with those she loved.

Bertha especially enjoyed camping and spending outdoors with her family.

She is survived by her loving husband; Ivan Bernier, her sons; Gary Boyd (Robin), David Boyd (Shirley) and Kevin Boyd (Julie) and her daughter; Brenda McDonough (Kelly), her cherished grandchildren; Amanda McDonough, Shawna Moore (Nathan), James Boyd (Megan), Galen McDonough, Kara Storey, Larissa Boyd, Carter Boyd, and Layton Boyd and her great-grandchildren; Colton Boyd and Claire Boyd.

She will also be lovingly remembered by her extended family; Jacques, Jean, Giselle and Scotty, her sisters; Helena Kent (Doug) and Florena Stewart, extended family member; Joan Beaumaster, several nieces, nephews and cousins.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her first husband; Leonard Boyd, her son; Jon Boyd, brothers; Ralph and Jon, her sisters; Georgina, Shirley and Peggy, extended family members; Timmy Leavitt and Kenny Leavitt

Resting at The S.O. Mehan & Son Funeral Home Ltd, 23 Main Street St Stephen, New Brunswick from where the funeral service will be held on Thursday March 12, 2026, at 2 pm. Family will receive friends at 12 pm until service time.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to the doctors, nurses and staff of the Saint John Regional Hospital Saint John, New Brunswick, 4th A Floor Transitional Unit, for the care and compassion shown to Bertha during her stay.

Bertha will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew her.
