Alexander “Sandy” McGaw

Alexander "Sandy" McGaw passed away at his residence in Oak Hill after a lengthy illness on Tuesday, August 11, 2020.

Sandy was born May 3, 1942 and was the son of the late Wallace and Elizabeth Mary (Eagan) McGaw.

He is survived by his wife, Vivian; his children, Pattianne (Wayne) Erskine and Ray (Stephanie) McGaw; five grandchildren, Daniel, Jacob, Adam, Alex, and Samuel.  Sandy is also survived by his brother, Garry (Bonnie) McGaw, sister, Mary Gilmore, and several nieces and nephews.

Although born in St. Stephen, Sandy lived in Saskatchewan from 1957-1968.  When he returned home, he met the love of his life and returned to Oak Hill.

Sandy worked for Irving Oil for 30 years.  He was a dedicated employee.  Upon his retirement, he enjoyed restoring a 1957 Ford Fairlane.  Sandy will always be remembered for helping friends and community members with their mechanical needs.  Sandy also loved spending time with his family and friends.

Sandy was a Christian.  He devoted much time volunteering at his church, the St. Croix Christian Centre.

Resting at the St. Croix Christian Centre, 444 Milltown Blvd., St Stephen, NB from where the funeral service will be held on Saturday, August 15, 2020 at 2 PM. Visitation will be held at the church on Friday, August 14 from 6-8 PM .

For those who wish, donations in memory of Sandy may be made to Charlotte County Cancer Society, Oak Hill Cemetery or a charity of one’s choice.

The family would like to express their thanks for the wonderful care given to Sandy by Home Support, Charlotte County Cancer Society, and the Extra Mural Program.  The family is also grateful for the many visits by family and friends.
