With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Orris Rene Bridges, at Lincourt Manor St Stephen, NB on Sunday August 23, 2026.
Orris was born in Calais, Maine, 1948, to the late Orris Nelson Bridges and Kathleen Elizabeth Madsen (Eye).
He leaves behind his loving partner of over 50 years, Doreen Smith of Upper Mills, NB.
Orris is also survived by his children; Orris (Corinne) Bridges of St Stephen, David (Darlene) Bridges of Nova Scotia, Debbie Bridges (Roy) of St Stephen, Sherry Watson (John) of St. George, John (Kim) Bridges of St Stephen and Robert Smith (April) of St. Stephen.
He was a proud grandfather to; Joey, Orris, Shane, JJ, Katie, Heather, Coby, John Jr., Zach, Tyler, Ryan, Jerika, and Robbie, a cherished great-grandfather to; Zoey, Gabriel, Quinn, Nova, and Jackson.
Orris will also be lovingly remembered by his sister; Margaret Scott of Calais, Maine; his brothers; James Curran (Debbie) of St. Stephen and Bob Bridges of Ontario, sister-in-law; Tammy (Joe) Savoy of St. George, brothers-in-law; Leo Smith of Nova Scotia and Lee Smith of Ontario, several nieces, nephews, cousins and many cherished friends
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his stepmother; Mary Bridges, his beloved sons; Timothy Nelson Bridges, John Michael Bridges and Jason Allen Smith, his sister; Marian (Kenny) Smith, his half-sister; Carol Ann Bridges and his former wife; Donna (Alan) Bradford, his in-laws; Willis Smith and Effie Smith; Effie's brother; George Raymond, several brothers-in-law sisters-in-law and many dear friends.
Resting at The S.O. Mehan & Son Funeral Home Ltd, 23 Main Street St Stephen, NB, from where the funeral service will be held on Friday August 28, 2026, at 2 pm.
Visiting hours will be held at the funeral home on Thursday August 27, 2026, 2 pm – 4 pm and 6pm – 8pm.
Interment will take place at the Upper Mills Cemetery Upper Mills, NB following the funeral service. A reception will follow at the Upper Mills Church Upper Mills, NB.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Orris's memory may be made to the Charlotte County Food Bank, the SPCA of Charlotte County or a charity of one’s choice. Condolences can be made to the family online at www.mehanfuneralhome.ca
The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the staff of Lincourt Manor for the care, kindness and compassion shown to Orris throughout his time there.
