Georgie M. Hyslop

1929 - 2025

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of Georgie M. Hyslop on July 11th, 2025, at the Charlotte County Hospital St. Stphen, N.B, in the love and comfort of her family.

Born in St Stephen, NB, in 1929, Georgie was the cherished daughter of the late Arthur and Ellen Smith.

Georgie graduated from St. Stephen High School in 1946 and went on to continue her education at Mrs. Crabbe’s School of Business before working as a skilled bookkeeper for several businesses. In 1965, alongside her devoted husband of 65 years, Chester, they opened Chet’s Texaco where she worked diligently until her retirement.

Georgie’s faith and commitment to service were evident in her membership with the Kirk McColl United Church, Eastern Star and as a lifetime, Charter member of the IODE Heritage chapter. Her dedication and genuine kindness left a mark on all who knew her.

Georgie found great joy in her retirement travelling with Chester and numerous friends, collecting stories and memories all along the way.

Her warmth, grace and unwavering love for her family and friends will be deeply missed and forever remembered

Above all, Georgie was a loving mother and proud "Grandma."

She leaves behind her sons; John and Dennis (Stephanie), grandchildren; Shawn (Erin), JJ, Ryan (Janice) and Mary Jane (Kevin), great grandchildren; Gabby, Lucas and Anna, her very special niece; Susan Irving, along with many beloved nieces and nephews.

She is pre-deceased by her husband, Chester; daughter in-law, Brenda; her parents and her sisters; Doris, Beulah, Phyllis and Helen.

Funeral service will be held at the S. O. Mehan & Son Funeral Home, 23 Main Street  St. Stephen, N.B. on Saturday July 19, 2025 at 2 pm. Visiting hours will be held at The S.O. Mehan & Son Funeral Home Ltd, on the evening of Friday July 18, 2025 from 6 – 8 PM.  St Stephen Chapter # 8 O.E.S will hold a tribute service on Friday at 5:45 PM.

Interment will be at the Moores Mills Rural Cemetery, Moores Mills, N.B. following the funeral service.
