Gerald “Jerry” M. Lindsay

1946 - 2023

It is with profound sadness that the family of Gerald M. Lindsay announce his death on August 27, 2023. Since his cancer diagnosis 7 years ago, Jerry spent his time embracing the things that were important to him and managed his illness with strength and grace.

Jerry was born in McAdam, NB to Maurice E. and Marguerite L. (Anderson) Lindsay. He was raised with his siblings, Mary, Sylvia, Joyce, Karl and Joan on the "Klondike".

In 1966, he met his sweetheart, Nicola E. Edwards, and after convincing her to go for a drive in his Corvair, they married and had two children, Lori and William who they raised across the road from his childhood home.

In 1981, Jerry started his own business, Tacks ‘N’ Tapestry – a Store at Your Door". This mobile flooring and upholstery business brought him into many homes through York and Charlotte County. His warm personality, work ethic and customer service held him in high standard amongst those in the community.

Although moving to St. Stephen in 2001, Jerry would always remain a ‘Klondiker’ at heart.

Jerry had many pastimes that brought him enjoyment: camping, riding his motor bike, country drives with his dogs Mo and Sophie, listening to country oldies, coffee with friends at Tim’s but nothing brought him more happiness than spending time with his family. Time spent laughing and tormenting his four grandsons, while working in some moments of sage advice, was first and foremost to him.

Some of the sage advice that resounds through out the years are:
1. There is always time for a nap.
2. Everywhere is only 30 minutes or a half hour away.
3. Always eat your meat first.
4. Hard work and dedication pay off.

Jerry is survived by his wife of 57 years, Nikki. Their children, Lori (Leon) Porelle of Valley Road, NB and William ‘Bill" (Twila) Lindsay of Stoney Plain, AB; his grandsons, Colton Porelle (Erin) of Calgary, AB and Logan Porelle of Victoria, BC; Ethan Lindsay of Edmonton, AB and Liam (Amanda) Lindsay of Leduc, AB. He is also survived by his siblings Mary, Sylvia, Joan and Karl and their families.

Jerry was predeceased by his parents, Maurice and Marguerite, as well as his sister, Joyce.

Jerry’s family would like to thank his chosen extended family for the support, kindness and caring through out his illness. Thank you to Kelly and Johnny Mo, Don and Dianne, Bill and Dixie, Mabel, Diane, Tom, Bill and Diane, Ron and Marilyn and Roy and Phyliss for making the past months easier for him and his family.

At Jerry’s "orders", there will be no visitation or service.

For those wanting to donate to a charity in Jerry’s name, the family would suggest Neighbourhood Works, The McAdam Railway Station, The Union Street Atlantic Baptist Church or any charity of the donor’s own preference.
