Daryel A. Johnson

Daryel Johnson, surrounded by the love and prayers of his family was called home on July 16^th at Saint John Regional Hospital.

Daryel was born in Chamcook, NB., son of the late  Lillian (Libby) and Arthur Johnson.  In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by seven brothers and sisters, his son, Tony and many nieces and nephews.

Daryel met the love of his life of his life of 53 years, Jeanette (Losier) Johnson.  Survived and dearly missed by his son Michael Johnson, daughters Kelly Cooke (Ross), Lori Johnson (Darlene Hunter), grandson Gary Johnson (Kali), grandchildren Joseph Cleghorn, Michelle & Martina Johnson, Braden, Morgan & Kevin Cooke, great-grandchildren Toni Marie, Neveah, Izabella and Vala, and several nieces and nephews.

In his early years, Daryel worked for the Atlantic Salmon Federation for more than 25 years. He was a worker since the age of 13, serving his family by being their financial support.  He made money where he could, spending many hours on the beach digging clams, picking tips, whatever he could to be the bread winner.  He was also our carpenter, contractor, plumber and mechanic.  He also was a dad to many children that was not his own.  The doors were always open to make you feel like family, there was love to go around in our humble home.

In the years when his health declined to a place where he could no longer work, he was our homemaker.  Still raising children and grandchildren.  Our breakfast, lunches and suppers were always done for school and work, our taxi when we needed him, he was our unfailing shoulder to lean on.

Daryel served his job, his family and his Lord to the best of his abilities.  A regular church goer, he wasn’t, but remained strong in his faith and found his church, singing praising, praying to be wherever he was.

There will be a private graveside service for the family at the St. Stephen Rural Cemetery, St. Stephen, N.B. on Saturday, July 23, 2022 at 11 AM. Following the service, all are welcome to attend an open house at Daryel and Jeanette’s home (73 Ghost Road, Chamcook, NB) on Saturday, July, 23, 2022 from 1- 4 PM. for a celebration of his life.
