Peacefully and with his family by his side, the death of James Harold McKinney occurred on November 26, 2018 at St. Joseph's Hospital. Jim (Jimmy) was born on May 8, 1935, at Whittier Ridge, NB and was the loving son of the late Walter and Katie (Richardson) McKinney.

Jim was the devoted and much loved husband of 66 years of Doreen (Giles) McKinney . He was the loving and beloved father of Susan Sears (late Robert), Elaine Arsenault (Tim), Maureen Biggs (John) and Kenny McKinney (Roxanne). Beloved grandfather of 11, great grandfather of 12 and great, great grandfather of one. He was the loving brother of Muriel Acheson (late Guy). Also survived by his sister-in-law Florence Irving, several step grandchildren, many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by two brothers, John Irving and Ralph McKinney (late Mary), infant sister Mabel Irving, friend and son-in-law Robert Sears Jr., and many more cherished relatives and friends.

Jim's priority was his family. He worked hard to provide for them but was always ready for a family outing and good times. He was a mentor and helper to his children and grandchildren. He spent many hours with his grandchildren who have fond memories of heartfelt talks, fishing, hunting, 4 wheeling and ski-doo trips with Gramp. He gave his family the gift of his time and attention and will be forever loved and missed by them.

Jim was a linesman by trade and a dedicated employee of NB Power for more than 33 years before his retirement in 1992.

He enjoyed meeting new people and visiting with relatives and friends. He was kind-hearted and always willing to lend a helping hand to all. Always hardworking, he loved being outdoors and kept fit and active until his illness. He enjoyed all animals, especially his horses, dogs and cats.

The family wishes to extend their thanks to the staff of the CAM Unit of St. Joseph's Hospital and all others who helped care for Jim during his illness.

By Jim's request there will be no funeral. The family will receive friends at the Royal Canadian Legion, 43 Queen Street, St. Stephen, NB on Friday, November 30, 2018 from 1:30 to 4:30.
